"Mr. Pumpkin is a very funny tale about a boy who imagines that the candle-lit pumpkin in his bedroom is turning into a monster. The 19-year-old filmmaker, who wrote and directed, demonstrates remarkable self-assuredness in the technical aspects of filmmaking and possesses a well-developed and wry sense of humor." - Patrick Taggart, Austin American-Statesman Oct. 6, 1986

"Mr. Pumpkin is a tight, intelligent thriller working as much from atmosphere as shock." - Austin Chronicle, Oct. 30, 1987
